Curiosity about earrings

In Geneva, the world's most expensive earrings to date were sold. An unmatched pair of diamond earrings with the name Apollo and Artemis went for 57.4 million dollars at auction in 2017. They thus took the record as the world's most expensive earrings.

The Girl with a Pearl Earring by Vermeer 1665 hangs at Mauritshuis in The Hague.
The painting shows a girl turning her face towards the viewer over her left shoulder and in the left earlobe hangs a large pearl.

The painting provided inspiration for the film "Girl with a Pearl Earring" (English title: Girl with a Pearl Earring) which is a British feature film from 2003 with Scarlett Johansson as the main character. The film is based on the book of the same name, written by Tracy Chevalier.
